Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized by her outstanding performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano earned her numerous awards and an Oscar. The well-known actress began her acting career on the stage in various Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. It has been an integral part of her love of life. When she was in fifth grade, she played Helen Keller. Following a bout of mumps, she lost her hearing on the one side of her ear. The deafness didn't stop her from pursuing her dream to become an actor. In her early years, she was a drama student in college and moved in New York City from Pittsburgh to fulfill her dream. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and they worked together for Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. When she moved in Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure a supporting role for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in numerous films and shows and TV films over more than three decades. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
